The purpose of the Henderson Libraries Foundation is to support Henderson Libraries in its mission and to improve the financial support, particularly through gifts, grants, and bequests. Our Foundation is passionate about finding resources to assist and promote interest in and development of Henderson Libraries. We do this by obtaining financial contributions over and above the annual operating fund, with the primary focus of the support in five key program areas:
Library Collections
The Library Foundation seeks committed donors who are interested in providing contributions to both general and specific areas of the Henderson Libraries collection.
Outreach Services
The Library Foundation seeks donors who are passionate about supporting efforts that build pre-kindgerten literacy skills in children. The Foundation is also looking for donors interested in providing library services to seniors and to undeserved areas of our community.
Technology Services
The Library Foundation seeks donors interested in supporting innovative library technologies that expand the library’s resources into every school, business, and home in the community
Capital Projects
Henderson Libraries has only 89,300 square feet of library space available to serve 309,955 residents. The Library Foundation seeks donors who share our vision of a community with libraries near every neighborhood and who see libraries as an integral and critical component in the quality of life within our community. Funds donated in this category will allow renovations, expansion, and new library buildings.
Scholarships
The Henderson Library Foundation, through the Joan T. Wholihan Scholarship, awards an annual scholarship to a qualified individual in southern Nevada who is seeking a Masters in Library and Information Science. The Library Foundation seeks donors committed to maintaining and expanding development and educational opportunities for library staff in our community.
